Sr. Product Manager - Austin, TX

My client is looking for a Senior Product Manager to join their Software
Development team developing breakthrough collaboration software for the next
generation enterprise.  The software is built on the latest Web 2.0
technologies (including Ruby on Rails) and has been designed in partnership
with a worldwide leading design firm.  As Product Manager you will work in a
dynamic environment creating a world-class product that combines elements of
social networks, wikis, blogs, message boards and document sharing –
organized not around the underlying technologies, but around the way people
work. This is a high-profile position reporting directly into the Vice
President, Products and is a great opportunity for a Product Manager with
4-5 years of experience to take the next leap forward in his or her career.


 Key Responsibilities

   - Own and manage the product road-map
   - Gather new requirements from customers and other stakeholders including
   Sales, Professional Services and Marketing
   - Create requirement documents and work closely with the development team
   to implement these into the product in line with core design principles
   - Work closely with the design team to ensure product growth is in
   compliance with usability and user experience principles
   - Observe, analyze and respond to competitive offerings and market shifts

   - Create product documents (release notes, product manuals and other
   documentation)
   - Work closely with CMO/product marketing to create presentations and
   demos
   - Monitor product development and implementation

Requirements

   - 4-5 years of Software Product Management experience in hi-tech
   - Strong Web2.0/E2.0 software industry knowledge.  Delivering product
   written in Ruby on Rails a plus.
   - Excellent critical thinking skills and project management capabilities
   - Strong communication and writing skills
   - Solid organizational skills, highly detail orientated
   - Ability to explain technical products to both technical and
   non-technical audiences
   - Ability to work with designers to turn user requirements into
   product features
   - Unselfish, team-oriented attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
   - BS/BA in a technical or business field
   - Highly self-directed
   - Role is based in Austin, with some travel required

Additional skills which are attractive but not required include:

   - Domain expertise in collaborative and/or enterprise software.
   - Ruby on Rails
   - MBA
