Spiceworks (www.spiceworks.com) is a small well funded three year old
start-up located in Austin, Texas. The Spiceworks IT Network is rapidly
growing social application used by over half a million IT Professionals.
Spiceworks has been featured in publications like the Wall Street Journal,
PC Magazine, and Advertising Age. We have a great opportunity for a
motivated rails developer who is looking to own, design, build, and
successfully launch new features that thrill our users. We use Prototype,
Scriptaculous, Ruby on Rails, Apache, and Postgres. We're light on
unnecessary process and big on collaboration. We need your strong
problem-solving and analytical skills as we tackle challenging problems. You
will own a critical piece of the backend infrastructure and help us scale
our rapidly growing site. Requirements: Ruby on Rails experience is
preferred Expertise in designing and building scalable web applications.
Experience in designing database schemas, crafting, and tuning SQL queries.
Postgres experience is a plus. Experience with configuring or maintaining
Apache is a plus Experience with building UIs in XHTML, CSS, Javascript
Bachelors in Computer Science is desired 3+ years of professional experience
Start-up or small company experience is a plus Passion for building a great
