ActiveProspect is looking for a Java/Ruby developer. (For this position,
the emphasis will be on Java but given our direction it'd be great to
have someone who is also comfortable with Ruby). Full posting
is below. No agencies, groups, teams or recruiters please (seriously,
though). We are looking for an individual in the local Austin area to
fill this position. Appreciate your time and we look forward to
hearing from you.

Cheers,
-Rick
======================================================================
You...

- are a rock star developer who lives for beautiful code
- have a knack for restating a problem on the way to a simpler solution
- thrive in a no-bullshit collaborative environment
- are on the cutting edge of best practices and what's going on in the
development community
- consider yourself an architect of great things, not just a coder

What you'll do...

You'll have ownership of features or entire web-based applications and
will take them all the way from concept to production. Use your depth
of experience in Java to help us write great software. Show your
passion for quality by writing succinct unit tests. Apply your
knowledge of the inner workings of the query optimizer to make MySQL
hum. Make Linux systems (Ubuntu, RHEL) do your bidding with aplomb.
You'll develop in an agile environment with daily or weekly milestones.

What we need...

You should definitely be familiar with Hibernate, Spring, JDBC and SQL,
Servlets, Javascript (Prototype, jQuery), XHTML, CSS, JUnit. Experience
with an IDE (IntelliJ) is important. Sysadmin skills (not just
familiarity with a prompt but also architecture of systems) and
experience with running Apache and Jetty is a must. Extra consideration
will be given to open source contributors, Rails folks and those with a
strong appreciation for good design and user experience. We're looking
for someone who can recognize opportunities for improvement, gather
feedback (from customers and coworkers), devise a solution, articulate
a plan of action, and lead the development efforts from start to finish.

Quality character, and a strong and informed opinion will get you far
with us. Those with the ability to make us laugh will also get bonus points.

Experience in the online advertising industry or, more specifically, in
the online lead generation industry is a big plus.

About the Company...

ActiveProspect provides web-based applications servicing the online lead
generation industry. The company is profitable and growing rapidly. We
are a small team comprised primarily of developers located downtown near
the corner of 6th and Lamar (walking distance to WholeFoods HQ and lots
of restaurants and bars). Learn more at www.activeprospect.com.

Why should you join us...

We believe in quality, not quantity. Our service is a 24/7 mission
critical component for our customers and their business is our business.
We take that very seriously and believe strongly that you can do a
whole lot more with an elite commando unit than you can with an army of
foot soldiers. In order to build that team, we'll give you what you
want... competitive pay, ownership in the company, benefits, a fun place
to work, challenge of writing robust highly-available software, control
over your job, and serious input in the direction of the company. And
after you get here you can help us pick out who comes next...
