[Jobs] Need experienced RoR help to join team for 2-3 month contract

Our small non-profit company of 12 staff is looking for an experienced
Rails developer to join a dev team for a contract or contract-to-hire
opportunity.  We are working to build open-source software for the
emergency preparedness and response community here in TX and (hopefully)
nationwide.  The project is well defined, already has working, deployed
versions and two members of the staff are experienced software
developers who are relatively new to the RoR framework.  We have a
relaxed environment and are working for a good cause.  The applications
are interesting and we have a lot of creative license to forge new
paths.

 

The following skills are desired:

 

At least one year Ruby On Rails experience

Understanding of core object-oriented principles and the MVC pattern

Ability to work across all layers: database, business logic, and
front-end

Ability to work in an Agile, XP environment

Good understanding of HTML, CSS, AJAX, Javascript

Hands-on experience working with SQL database servers, SQL  programming
DB queries, schemas, connecting with backend application logic.

Working knowledge of plugins/gems and tools like Cucumber, FactoryGirl,
Git, PivotalTracker

Graphic design / GUI expertise - all of the resident programmers are
more of the backend ilk

 

Initial engagement is for 2-3 months, please submit requirements for
hourly compensation 

and schedule of weekly availability.  Full-time 8-5 desired, but
negotiable.  Remote work
