Job Title: Unix/Ruby Software Developer





Job Description:  Ideal candidate will possess 6 to 10 years experience in a proven environment where correctness is critical; must be able to work independently, and strong ability to troubleshoot as needed with little guidance.  The role of this seasoned developer will change on as needed, customer-driven basis.  Work could vary between integrations, SQL database management; javascripting; building servers; key characteristics of developer who really understands the care of working on applications with security concerns; this company is seeking a top-notch skilled programmer.  Seeking proven success in the industry; working specifically with web-based front end and clients; creating an interface for administrators; ability to innovate, yet not a candidate who only wants to innovate; the work is a strong mixture; experience with MySQL database working systems to systems; utilization of extensive applications and in-house systems (XML); must have experience with in-house systems (xml); experience developing web front end; system to system integrations.


Characteristics:  Must have very strong work ethic and does not mind "rolling up sleeves."  This a hard working, great group of people who all have a passion to grow this business and jump in where needed.  Typical work hour tends to be in the 50 hour range and would very much like to find a candidate who works hard, but is looking for a laid-back, easy to work with and can get along group of friendly people in far South Austin.  No security clearance required, but a very thorough background check must be conducted.  Subjective ideal:  someone who is "appropriate", intelligent, hard working easy to get along with developer.  Ideally, with a more seasoned developer, they will have more extensive interaction with the client; must be patient and friendly and able to troubleshoot on phone; must be able to look at internal systems and database;  ability to document and a candidate who is very well written is imperative.  Will require extensive interaction with the client and ability to communicate by way of email is imperative. All code will be reviewed by President or CTO; must be accurate and correct – very important. Will also include some application design.


Ideal background:  Candidates coming from semiconductor and banking industry work well; NO MS background desired


Years/Type Experience: ideal is 6 to 10 in a proven environment and proven success


Education:  4 year degree

Environment: Currently comprised of five including Owner/Principle, Developer (CTO); contract Developer (between jobs and comes from semi-conducting); 1 customer service agent and a junior developer.  


Process:  All developers will begin on integrations.  The systems are very complex and will take some time to understand.
