putting the creation of instructional materials 
in the hands of educators and curriculum authors, 
and taking a integrated approach that brings 
together best-practices instructional 
methodologies, assessment, multimedia resources, 
and traditional educational content.   The firm 
is headquartered in Austin, Texas.

Position Description
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible 
for the design and development of the back-end of 
Sapling System’s software applications.  You will 
work in a close-knit team environment where 
interaction, teamwork and camaraderie are highly 
valued.  This is a rare ground floor opportunity 
to develop new products in a small, established 
company posed for significant growth.  This 
position reports to the VP of Product Development.

Skills
·         Excellent technical and problem solving skills.
·         Plan and execute challenging 
development and design assignments among several 
smaller projects or one major project.
·         Create reliable work plans with 
estimates, schedules and technical and resource 
dependencies fully comprehended.
·         Work with minimal guidance and with 
substantial latitude for independent action.
·         Communicate effectively both verbally 
and in written form to create and convey complete 
and concise design information.

Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years back-end 
programmer and troubleshooter experience.

Required Skills:

·      PHP development including strong CakePHP experience
·      PHP configuration and installation
·      Apache administration and configuration
·      Strong Unix/Red Hat experience including htaccess
·      Deployment experience with Capistrano
·      Ruby on Rails development experience
·      Build experience with Ant
·      Mysql ­ making schema changes; configuring, installing
·      Other build and deployment experience a plus
·      Other programming experience a plus
·   Startup experience is strongly desired.
·   Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Equivalent
·   Local Candidate Preferred
