Title:  Engineering Lead

Location:  ShangBy Austin Office, Westlake, Austin, TX

Reports to:  VP Marketing (CEO acting)

ShangBy Inc. is a US venture backed early stage company founded in  
November, 2006 by Steve Bell and Lei Dai.  The company is  
headquartered in Austin, TX with the bulk of its operations in Shanghai.

Basically, think "YouTube meets "QVC / eBay" (home shopping). ShangBy  
is creating a new shopping category - where people come to be  
entertained and participate in the markets of the world.  
Specifically, the Company has local agents in the coolest markets and  
shops in Shanghai stream real time video to shoppers in the US.  A  
single individual US located "ShangBuyer" tells the agent what to do,  
where to go, what to look at, and what to buy as they receive a real- 
time audio and video feed from the store in Shanghai. The agents do  
the translation and buy on behalf of ShangBy's US "ShangBuyer".   
Everyone else watching on TV or the Internet can "pile-on" and buy at  
the price set by the ShangBuyer both during and after the live  
events. ShangBy charges transaction fees. ShangBy uses ShangBuyers to  
build ShangBy viewers and pile-on shopper volume. Finally, ShangBy  
collects user feedback on items, retailers, agents, etc to inform  
next shoppers and build trusted helpful content.  http://www.shangby.com

Responsibilities Include:

·      Develop “alpha” Technical Specifications for www.shangby.com  
from functional specifications, wire-frames, and photoshop delivered  
by ShangBy’s Head of Customer Experience – do so under overall  
technical direction of ShangBy’s CTO
·      Deliver weekly (can be shorter) releases of functional  
improvements to website under direction of VP Marketing (CEO –  
acting) in a “highly efficient” and high quality manner.
Background Desired:

·      2-4 years experience in a high energy fast paced software  
engineering team – where candidate distinguished self from peers
·      Strong demonstrated ability to develop websites with large  
user traffic, critical UI design, and rich user interaction
·      Experience with Rails, CSS, JavaScript, Flash
·      BS Degree in CS or related – top University – top Graduate
Description:

ShangBy’s Austin based Engineering Lead will be responsible for  
quickly taking new design’s from the design team plus developing own  
designs and deploying/prototyping these new functional enhancements  
to a subset of the overall www.shangby.com audience in direct support  
of website business plan objectives.
